My name is Rohit and I am a corporate executive by profession and an electrical engineer by education. I was born and raised in a mid-size town of eastern India in a middle class family. I moved to the United States for my Masters degree and stayed back to become a naturalized citizen.

Growing up in India, awareness of Astrology and its application was all around me. My father had dabbled into the subject as a hobby and I had often perused through the various books lying around the house. I was, however, more interested in looking at the stars as I was enamored by the physics of space and time.

It was hard for my scientifically educated, rationally thinking mind to correlate the subjects of astronomy and astrology. Apart from the planets themselves, everything else seemed to be at odds with each other. At the surface level, on one end of the spectrum was faith, spirituality, tradition and the inner workings of the mind. On the other end of this spectrum was logic, rationality, experimentation and modern sciences. Furthermore, the more I tried to understand astrology by reading books and media, the more it felt contradictory, confusing and a hoax.

Guidance from a revered teacher and life experiences have helped me understand how the two ends of this spectrum of faith and logic co-exist and are essentially inextricable from each other. It has been a transformative experience to learn Jyotisha under a skilled teacher. It has given me a profound understanding of people, purpose and the world around us; it has helped me grow as a person by developing compassion and gratitude— the two paramount virtues of human existence. For me, Jyotisha has acted as self discovery tool which can also address the mundane issues of life.

I have been studying this subject under the tutelage of Penny Farrow for the last 12 years in the tradition of the renowned Vedic astrologer Hart de Fouw.

My motivation to delve into Jyotisha in the beginning was self serving— to seek answers for myself and read my own future. It has grown on me now, to a point where I feel I need to share the merits of this divination system to help others.
